..with Deirdre Costello in Abigail's PartyMy professional life in the theatre began in weekly and fortnightly rep. Then followed Fringe theatre, Music Hall, cabaret, touring and West End. Some of my favourite roles include Amy in ‘Charley’s Aunt’, Mrs Squeamish in ‘The Country Wife’, Angela in ‘Abigail’s Party’, and Jan in Aykbourn’s ‘Bedroom Farce’ for which The Evening Standard praised my ‘sharpness of style’. Cameron Macintosh had me change sex by casting me as Christopher Robin in ‘Winnie the Pooh’, and for ‘Friday Night is Music Night’ at St David’s Hall, Cardiff, I again had to wear short trousers for ‘Sparky and his Magic Piano’. It was simultaneously broadcast live on Radio 2.

Trillian concentratesIn 2012, she played Old Sophie in the stage premiere of Howl’s Moving Castle, and was Trillian in the first nationwide tour of the Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy Radio Show – Live! This sell out tour is being repeated in the autumn
of 2013.

..my first fairy Godmother
At Christmas 2001, I played the first of many Fairy Godmothers
..as Cinderella
In Pantomime I’ve played several principal girls, my favourite being of course, Cinderella.
..as Lady Sailsbury
I also played a variety of characters including Lady Salisbury and
'Lady Sackville-West in 'Wellington' performed at Apsley House, London

The Merry Wife...

I wrote and performed a one-woman-show, The Merry Wife of Wilton for the Windsor Fringe Festival which I then performed at various venues round the country.

'One of the brightest and most surprising coups for the Windsor Fringe! Her attention to detail is immaculate...'
Slough Observer

TELEVISION, FILM and AUDIO VISUAL

Having played a nurse in ‘The Troubleshooters’ while still a student, I was later to be cast as a nurse again – Mary - in the long running ATV children’s series ‘Why Can’t I Go Home?’. I also made appearances in ‘Rainbow’, ‘Agony’, ‘By The Sea’, 'Bless Me Father', 'Fresh Fields' and was the third witch in BBC2’s ‘Macbeth’ with Corin Redgrave.

My most recent TV work: I recently suffered a gory death in a chicken run! As Irish nun Mother Thomas in Midsomer Murders I was gruesomely strangled as I fed the chickens, in a case of mistaken identity. Great fun.

I appeared in the short comedy film 'Edible Snow Beasts' (2005) directed by Richard Nash

..at the microphone Over my many years in radio, I've had some fabulous roles, including Mrs Allonby in ‘A Woman of No Importance’ with Diana Rigg and Mrs Copperfield in ‘David Copperfield’. As an often used child’s voice I was Kim in Waggoners Walk, Peter in ‘Peter Pan’, Flora in ‘The Piano’, Gavroche in ‘Les Miserables’ & many others. I played Sherlock Holmes’ Scottish Housekeeper in Sexton Blake – a spoof detective series starring Simon Jones and June Whitfield on Radio 4.

I also played Trillian, from The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy radio series. Tricia McMillian (Trillian to her friends) is a highly trained astrophysicist and keeper of white mice. Born on Earth, she met a guy at a fancy dress party who turned out to be from another planet. He eventually turned out to be her boyfriend, Zaphod Beeblebrox. These improbable fates may be related to her time aboard the Heart of Gold, which she learnt to pilot by driving round Hyde Park Corner on a moped.
